Liquor Commission

The Liquor Commission meets on an “as needed basis” to review all new and all renewal applications regarding existing and potentially new liquor licenses (and video gaming licenses) within the Village of Cherry Valley. The Liquor Commission may also meet to review complaints filed against businesses pertaining to their licenses.

Planning & Zoning Commission
The Zoning Board of Appeals has been recently combined with the Village's Planning Commission to create the "Planning & Zoning Commission" which has been set up in accordance to Illinois State statutes. This committee meets the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30PM when there are requests to be addressed. The Planning & Zoning Commission makes recommendations to the Village Board of Trustees regarding all zoning changes - whether the zoning requests are for new properties or for changes to existing properties. This Commission also makes recommendations to the Village Board regarding variances, special use permits, site plan review issues and the like.

Recreation Board Committee
The Recreation Board typically meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM. They plan and staff many recreational activities for the Village residents. The following activities are their responsibility:

Easter Egg Hunt - Saturday before Easter   
Fourth of July - fireworks always on the 4th
Citizen of the Year - May/June    
Summer Street Dance - July
Spring/Fall Fishing Tournament - May or September
Santa's Arrival in Cherry Valley - Sunday Following Thanksgiving
Halloween Parade - Saturday before Halloween    
Halloween Light Display - October
Holiday Light Display - December

Planning & Development Committee
The Planning & Development Committee is part of the Commitee of the Whole and the Village Board . All development issues, rezoning and variance requests that have passed through the Planning & Zoning Commission are presented as part of the Planning & Development portion of the Committe of the Whole. New developments and site plan review are among the other topics discussed.

Ordinance Committee
The Ordinance Committee is part of the Committe of the Whole and the Board of Trustees.  The Committee of the Whole reviews and makes recommendations on all ordinances which affect Cherry Valley. Examples of typical ordinances include changes in zoning, traffic ordinances, park rules and regulations, snow removal ordinances, etc. Once ordinances reach the board, they generally go through two readings before voted on.

Personnel, Compensation & Benefits Committee

The Personnel, Compensation & Benefits (PCB) Committee is part of the Committee of the Whole and the Village Board. The Committee of the Whole discusses all issues and policies regarding Cherry Valley personnel. As well the recommendations for hiring of any new personnel, and discusses salaries each year and reviews and upgrades employee benefits on a continuing basis. Once recommendations come out of the Committe of the Whole, they are then voted on at the Village Board.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is part of the Committee of the Whole and Village Board. The Committee of the Whole makes recommendations regarding any expenditures to be made by the Village of Cherry Valley. For example, each month, payables are reviewed for approval. This committee also decides on bond issuances and the budget each year. Once recommendations come out of the Committe of the Whole, they are then voted on at the Village Board.

Public Safety Committee

The Public Safety Committee is part of the Committee of the Whole and the Village Board. The Committee of the Whole oversees the safety of the Village. As such, all issues relating to the Cherry Valley Police Department are handled here. Discussions include purchase of equipment for the department, vehicles, and policies of public safety in the village. Once recommendations come out of the Committe of the Whole, they are then voted on at the Village Board.

Public Works & Water Committee

Public Works Department

The Public Works Committee is part of the Commitee of the Whole and the Village Board. Included in the the Public Works section of the Committee of the Whole is the Cherry Valley Water Department, all road and park improvements, improvements to Village owned buildings, snow plowing in the winter and mowing schedules in the summer, etc. Recommendations are then made to the Village Board for approval.
